Some people have a desire to adopt a pet rather than to purchase one. This is a wonderful idea and most often the pet makes the transition into the family with out an issue. There are times though where adoptive pets do not fit in with the family. There are many reasons that animals find their way to shelters. Most often they are unwanted and are abandoned, for no good reason. Sometimes they are abused or have behavior problems. It is always a good idea to have your adoptive animal evaluated before bringing it home. Evaluations can be done at the shelter, by your Veterinarian, or by a trainer.
